Monkey-Box presents Scale the Heights Throwdown 2015

An old school CrossFit males and females individuals and masters competition designed specifically for the people who make our community special. The regular hard working box athletes who turn up week after week simply to make themselves better at everyday life. The movement standards throughout the competition’s stages are designed to be achievable for the majority of athletes. Scale the Heights Throwdown offers more opportunities for participants to be able to progress from the online qualifiers to take part in the June second round events on route to the Grand Final in September at Reebok CrossFit 3D Manchester. The emphasis here is on celebrating your fitness and enjoying being part of the wider community, so book your place and get involved. You stand an increased chance of making it to a second round event either by qualifying for a guaranteed place in your category or finishing in the top 500 runner up participants and being selected as a Monkey-Box-Wild Card participant for the second round events. One price, more chances to progress. Compete, support, and enjoy the occasion with athletes, coaches, WODs and music in the places where it really matters. Back in the boxes! 3 online qualifiers. 4 boxes. 1 community.

Participants complete the online qualifiers in May and submit their scores via WODcast. The top 90 placed participants are guaranteed invites to the second round events. The remaining 180 second round places will be randomly drawn as special Monkey-Box-Wild Card invitationals from the remaining top 500 runners up. Get through the second round and compete at Reebok CrossFit 3D Manchester in September. One price, more opportunities to be part of something special, so get involved and celebrate your fitness!

Book your participant ticket from bookitbee.com from 0900 Monday 13th April. This opportunity closes 2100 Friday 8th May

Your participant ticket buys you entrance and a WODcast registration ID to take part in the online qualifiers enabling you to enter your scores online. You will be asked to have your score verified by a CrossFit affiliated coach or submit a video link showing your workout. Please follow the procedure as indicated by WODcast.

Online Qualifiers – Will be emailed to each participant and published on the Scale the Heights Throwdown Facebook Page and www.monkey-box.net on the following dates.

Qualifier 1 Announced 0900am Monday 11th May – score must be submitted by 2100 Sunday 17th May

Qualifier 2 Announced 0900am Monday 18th May – score must be submitted by 2100 Sunday 24th May

Qualifier 3 Announced 0900am Monday 25th May – score must be submitted by 2100 Sunday 31st May.

Each second round event will host 90 athletes. 30 males and 30 females made up of the top 10 qualifiers and 20 wild card entrants from each category, plus 15 male masters (45 years +) and 15 female masters (45 +) made up of the top 5 qualifiers and 10 wild card entrants from each category.

Scale the Heights Throwdown Grand Final Sunday 13th September @ Reebok CrossFit 3D Manchester

The grand final will host the 90 athletes who will have progressed from the second round events. These finalists will be made up of the top 10 males and females from each second round event plus the top 5 male masters (45 +) and female masters (45 +) from each second round event. At the end of this event we will have crowned and awarded trophies to our first ever Scale the Heights Throwdown Champions and runners up.

Key Concepts

This is a fun competition for the regular CrossFit athlete and will feature achievable movement standards.

This is a community focused back to basics throwdown. Beginning in boxes and ending in boxes.

Each event will welcome athletes, coaches, families and friends with music, WODs, food, drink and vendors stalls in the places where CrossFit really matters. Inside the boxes where the magic happens week in week out.

Movement standards incorporated will represent the 10 components of fitness.

Each event will generate a donation to a charity of each box owners choice.

Monkey-Box Presents Scale the Heights Throwdown

Monkey-Box is a small project that promotes functional fitness and CrossFit as a method of personal support. Founded by Ben O’Malley, the project was developed to support his client Adrian who suffered a traumatic brain injury, abdominal and orthopedic injuries following a serious car accident. Ben and Adrian travel CrossFit boxes together promoting the benefits of functional fitness as a catalyst for supporting people with complex needs and encourage people with similar experiences to access the community, offering support to coaches and athletes where possible.
